Has the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) begun the process for the 2024 Hajj exercise, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, (OON) has pledged the readiness of the Federal Government, through his Ministry, to provide the commission with necessary supports needed to sustain and record a more seamless and hitch-free Hajj exercise before and during the 2024 Hajj operations.
Ambassador Tuggar gave the assurance during the week when he played host to the Chairman and CEO of NAHCON, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, in his office at the Ministry’s headquarters, Abuja.
The Minister, in a statement signed by the NAHCON Assistant Director Public Affairs, Fatima Sanda Usara and made available to the highPROFILE, also expressed the willingness of his Ministry to participate in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)in January next year.
Ambassador Tuggar also assured the NAHCON Chairman of the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with the Commission in any way possible towards easing affairs of pilgrims and promoting the country’s positive image.
Earlier in his address, the NAHCON Chairman, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, said the rationale behind the visit was to seek for the Ministry’s unalloyed support on matters revolving around Hajj, Umrah and other consular affairs.
Alhaji Hassan, who formally introduced the NAHCON institution to the Minister, also described the Foreign Ministry as a critical stakeholder in Hajj organization.
He therefore extended invitation to Ambassador Tuggar to represent Nigeria as signatory during signing of MoU for the 2024 Hajj expected to hold in January 2024.
