Rtn Obaniyi becomes President of Rotary Club of Ilorin Prestige

It was a moment of joy and celebration galore at the Princess Luxury Hotel, Ilorin, the kwara state capital, as the Rotary Club of Ilorin Prestige inaugurated its new President, Rtn Kehinde Obaniyi and members of his team to steer the affairs ofthe Club for the 2023-2024 Rotary year.

The change of baton ceremony featured prominent members of the Club in attendance.


In his handing over speech, Rtn Obaniyi, said the slogan of the Club “The Pride of Rotary,” holds significant meaning to his tenure and promised to uphold it as a source of pride for Rotary in Kwara, District 9125, Nigeria, and the entire Rotary International community.


He urged members of the Club to leave the past behind and join hands in rebuilding the Club by dedicating themselves to impactful Rotary service within their local communities and the world at large.


The new President promised to dedicate his tenure to Club’s development by prioritizing accountability, meticulous recordkeeping, regular updates, active member involvement, and the welfare of the members. 


According to him “My commitment to Rotary extends beyond mere words; it encompasses the well-being of every member. I will fulfill our financial obligations to the Rotary Foundation, recognizing the pivotal role it plays in enabling us to make a positive impact on communities worldwide.


“Creating Hope: I will lead initiatives that profoundly impact lives and the environment, extending our projects to communities in need, spreading hope and fostering sustainable development. I humbly acknowledge that I am not immune to making mistakes, but I assure you that I will be an attentive and receptive leader, seeking guidance from our esteemed district leaders as mentors”.


Rtn Obaniyi implored Club to effectively utilize the three Ts—Treasure, Talent, and Time—in all areas of Rotary’s focus, adhering to our Four-Way Test and Rotary Code of Conduct as guiding principles in all the Rotary endeavors.


To my esteemed fellow club members, I extend my heartfelt appreciation for your unwavering dedication to Rotary at the club, district, and international levels. I implore you to continue with your exemplary efforts and strive to surpass our previous achievements in this new Rotary year, 2023/2024.Let us remember that our purpose is to Create Hope for those who have lost it, guiding them towards the light of a brighter future and showcasing the goodness of this world through our actions as Rotarians”, he said.


The Chairman, Handover Fellowship Committee and Vice President, 2023-2024, Rotarian Bankole S. Olaoluwa said the transition of new leaders in Rotary club signified the continuity of service and the opportunity for fresh perspectives and ideas to flourish.

“It is through this transition that we ensure the sustainability and growth of our clubs, enabling us to make a lasting impact on our communities and the world”.


“I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your invaluable contributions towards the success of this program. Your dedication, hard work, and commitment have been instrumental in bringing us to this point. Together, we have demonstrated the true spirit of Rotary and the power of collective action”,
he said.
