The former Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Senator Godswill Akpabio has been elected as the Senate President of the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Senator Akpabio scored 63 votes to defeat his opponent, the former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Abdulazeez Yari who score 46 votes.
Also, Senator Jubril Barau representing Kano Notth Senatorial District has emerged Deputy Senate President.
Senator Barau emerged unopposed in the hollow chamber of the Senate.
The duo have subsequently taken Oath of office.
