Late KWASU VC stood for justice in his lifetime- Olupo

…As Massalam Islamic Foundation takes Ramadan visitation to Ajase-Ipo

The Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Ismail Bolaji Yahaya Muhammed Atoloye Alebiosu has again extolled the virtues of the late KWASU Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN, describing him as a voice for the voiceless and scholar of international repute.

Oba Islamil stated this on Saturday (April 8, 2023), when he played host to members of Massalam Islamic Foundation (MIIF) in his palace.

The Olupo explained that his relationship with the Akanbi family started when his own father’s path crossed with that of late Justice Mustapha Akanbi and their relationship became cordial, adding that such robust relationship between the duo miraculosly gave birth to his relationship with late Prof. Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi of blessed memory.

According to him, Prof. Akanbi was his teacher at the faculty of Law, University of Ilorin, describing him as a thoroughbred scholar and a dedicated teacher to his students who showed love and affection to all his students.

The first class monarch described late Prof. Akanbi as a defender of students’ interests, saying that Allah used him to assist and elevate a lot of students and people around him in the faculty and beyond.

He explained that late Prof Akanbi gave him full support before and after he became the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo.

“When I became Olupo of Ajase-Ipo in 2021, I paid him a surprise visit in his residence in Ilorin. He accorded me and my wife great hospitality, he was so happy to the extent that when I was leaving he gave me a very big and beautiful copy of the Glorious Qur’an and Jalamia (Alikimba) that he himself inherited from his late father, Justice Akanbi. That Qur’an is the biggest Qur’an I have, and I placed it in a very vantage position in my palace, ” he said.

Earlier in his lecture, one of the members of MIF, Ustadh Muktar Oloyin, described death as necessary end of everyone and urged Muslims to have a strong belief that it is only Allah that gives and takes.

He described the demise of late Prof Akanbi as painful and shocking but thanked Allah that he died as a Muslim, just as he prayed Allah to grant Justice Akanbi, Prof Akanbi, Alhaji Akeem Akanbi and their mother Hajia Munfa’at Akanbi an eternal rest.

Ustadh Oloyin commended the Olupo of Ajase-Ipo for standing by the Akanbi family and prayed God to grant him long life, and sound health to be able to pilot the affairs of Omupo community for a long period of time with resounding success.

In his address, the MIF Coordinator, Ustadh Toyin Ally said the MIF had a plan to visit Omupo as part of its annual Ramadan community outreach with the late Vice Chancellor during the last year Ramadan, but fate decided otherwise, saying that the plan to come this year became necessary.

MIF is a charitable organisation founded by late Justice Muhammed Adebayo Mustapha Akanbi CFR in 2009, it is a charitable organisation founded to spread Islam across the country and to provide financial support to the needy in the society.

Other activities of the organisation are visitations to hospitals and correctional centres in the state with gifts and community outreach, among others.

The team to Ajase-Ipo was led by Alhaji Ore, a right-hand man of late Justice Muhammed Mustapha Adebayo Akanbi.
