College of Nursing Ilorin gets first female Provost

The Governing Council of the Kwara State College of Nursing and Midwifery,  Ilorin,  has approved the appointment of Hajia Salman Iyabo Yusuf as the first female Provost of the College.


The State Commissioner for Tertiary Education,  Dr Alabi Afees Abolore announced  the approval of her appointment as the Provost during a management meeting held at the ministry on  Friday (March 31, 2023).

Hajiya Yusuf is a registered Nurse Educator with versed experience in the profession and has risen through the ranks in the Nursing profession.
She was the  Director Midwifery at the State College of Nursing and Midwifery Ilorin until  her appointment as Substantive Provost.

While congratulating the new Provost, Dr Abolore encouraged her to bring her wealth of experience in the Nursing Profession to bear in the task ahead. 

The commissioner hinted that Hajia Yusuf’s appointment was approved following the interview and other due processes carried out for the position of Substantive Provost at the kwara State College of Nursing and Midwifery Ilorin early this week. 


According to a statement signed by the Press Secretary of the Ministry, Mansurat Amuda-kannike, and made available to the pressmen, Dr Abolore explained that the appointment of Hajia Yusuf was rated based on merit and charged the newly appointed Provost to justify the confidence reposed in her.


He stated further that the State Government under the leadership of Mallam AbduRahman Abdulrazaq is committed towards adding more value to health care delivery services as well as providing good standard of education across all Tertiary Institutions in the state.
