The Igbomina Youth Assembly, a prominent non-partisan socio-cultural youth group of Igbomina extracts has wished Christian and Muslim faithfuls a hitchfree ongoing Lent and Ramadan fasting seasons, with a call to use the period to pray for the unty, harmonious and prosperous Nigeria.
This was contained in a statement issued by the President of the Assemby, Engr. Jimoh Abdulrasheed Temitope, and made available to the highPROFILE by the group National Publicity Secretary II, AbdulAziz Olasunkanmi Ishola Mcpdm.
Engr. Jimoh used the medium to pray for the rewarding fasting period void of difficulties, but filled with happiness, peace, sound health, tranquility, love and all round goodness and success in all spheres of life geared towards obeying the Lord’s commandments as contained in the two known scriptures.
“On behalf of all members, we wish all our Christian and Muslim faithfuls within and beyond Kwara State and the world at large a happier, healthier and hitchfree Lent and Ramadan seasons. May both seasons usher in God’s unending blessings to Nigeria and Nigerians across all works of life.”
“This year’s Ramadan fasting season somewhat tallies with the already-ongoing Christians’ Lent fasting. Thus, believers are urged to utilise this sacred period to earnestly pray for our dear State of Harmony in particular and Nigeria in general” the statement read in part.
Engr. Jimoh prayed that the good Lord strengthen the nation against internal and external forces trying to cause commotion and division among Nigerians, adding that the teachings and lessons of the scriptures should be adequately imbibed towards maintaining peaceful coexistence among ourselves, pointing out that the two major religions frown at violence and its related vices in all ramifications.
“Nigeria is a country blessed with loving and caring people from diverse cultures and traditions, so we should not allow nepotism, tribalism, ethnic or religious differences and political affiliations to create division among us.
“if a wall has no openings, a lizard cannot gain entrance into it, so Nigerians should maintain and sustain the existing spirit of Unity in Diversity the nation is known for in time past, hence, United we stand, Divided we fall” he added.
He prayed that these sacred seasons of Lent and Ramadan would bring forth glad tidings to Nigeria and Nigerians, especially during this moment when the 2023 General Elections were just conducted and concluded.
“May the good Lord guide and guard the affairs of the newly elected political office holders across boards, especially the President-elect towards piloting the affairs of the nation to greater heights against all odds”.
“Igbomina people are peace-loving, caring and always hospitable, hence we wholeheartedly pray for a prosperous Kwara, Nigeria and world at large” the statement added.
