A Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Hon. Lanre Sulyman has attributed the landslide victory recorded by the APC in the state during the Presidential and National Assembly elections to the outstanding performance of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq since he assumed office four years ago.
Hon. Sulyman affirmed that Kwara is the only state in the whole of the country that recorded a clean sweep success for all the APC candidates during the last presidential and national assembly elections.
“We saw the victory coming, and it is a well- deserved victory because the Governor has done well. That is why the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was able to win in Kwara. It is the performance of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq that Kwara for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
Addressing journalists in Ilorin on Saturday (March 18, 2023), Sulyman, a staunch supporter of Governor AbdulRazaq, said the Mallam Abdulrazaq performed exceedingly well in all sectors which ultimately translated into the love and affection kwarans accorded him.
“Our incumbent Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, performed exceedingly well, If you are doing well, going for an election or for reelection shouldn’t be much of a problem. We saw it coming. We knew he was going to win. We knew APC would have this kind of outing.
“Look at the Presidential and National Assembly elections in Kwara. He delivered the state for Asiwaju, the three senators, and six House of Representatives. I don’t think there is a state in the whole Nigeria that recoded that clean sweep for the APC, Kwara is the only state. We came first. It was not even a close election. The margin was much across the three senatorial districts, ” Sulyman said.
He explained that “Otoge mantra” in 2019 was more about the people, not about the activities of a few politicians. That is why, according to him, the governor focused on projects and not on political elites.
The governor, on the assumption of office, knew that he needed to impress the people, not the political elites, and that is why he focused on performance, which eventually won the heart of the masses in the state.
Speaking on the possibility of Governor Abdulrazaq’s re-election, Sulyman was optimistic that the brilliant performance of the governor would speak for him, just like the case in the last Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Also, in his comment, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Creative Industry, Abdulgafar Abiola, was confident that the re-election of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq would witness another round of youth oriented projects and programmes.
Abiola explained that Mallam Abdulrazaq is a youth friendly Governor who cared so much about youth engagement in the scheme of things, and assured Kwarans of his readiness to consolidate on his lofty youth related programmes and projects expecially in the areas of creative industries, acquisition of new skills, digital economy and the likes.
He called on all residents of Kwara to join hands with the Governor in his concerted efforts to turn around the fortunes of the state in the interest of all and sundry.
