The Chief Imam of Offa, Imam Muhideen Salaman, has attributed the resounding success recorded and still recording by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to his deaf hears to people’s personal and self-centered requests.
Imam Offa disclosed this on Thursday (March 2, 2023) in his sermon at the special prayer in honour of the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu organised by “Yasin 4 Tinubu/Shetima 2023” held at Government House Baquet Hall, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Imam Salaman said personal and trivial requests contribute immensely to the failure of most political office holders to redeem their electioneering promises.
The cleric applauded Governor Abdulrazaq for being focused and directional in piloting the affairs of the state, saying that if he had not turned deaf hears to distractions, he would not have recorded tremendous achievements.
Imam said it is appalling that most Nigerians belive in stomach infrastructure which he said does not have meaningful impact on the society and advised people to encourage leaders to focus on social amenities that will bring succour to the door step of everyone.
“If Governor had listened to trivial and self-centered requests from people, he would not have performed well in education, health, good road network and several other people oriented projects he has executed and still doing” he said.
He sought for people’s unalloyed support to the governor to re-emerge in the next governorship election to enable him to continue his good work in the state.
The cleric described Governor Abdulrazaq as a very humble, listening, considerate, and God-fearing leader who put the interests of people first.
Imam Salaman called on Nigerians not to distract the new set of leaders with personal requests but give them the liberty to execute projects that would have a direct positive impact on the lives of all and sundry.
Earlier in his address, the convener of the prayer, Alhaji Najeem Usman Yasin said the special prsyer was organised to appreciate Allah for the resounding victory of the President-Elect, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu and for the victory of all the six candidates of All Progressive Congress (APC) in the last Saturday National Assembly election in Kwara State.
The event was attended by many dignitaries such as the state Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, the Director General Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies who doubles as a Member of the Tinubu Presidential Campaign team, Comrade Issa Aremu mni, notable traditional and religious leaders from the state and a host of other personalities.
Highlights of the event included special prayer for the President-Elect and his running mate, all six candidates of APC that won National Assembly elections in Kwara State as well as for the victoryof all APC candidatesin the next gubernatorial andstate Houses of Assemblyelectionsin the state and beyond.
