HON commends FG’s new naira policy, seeks extention of old currency deadline

The Hijrah Organization of Nigeria (HON), National Headquarters, Ilorin, has commended the Federal government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for safeguarding the country’s economy and currencies, just as it urged the government  to allow the continued use of the old currency together with the new currency by extending the deadline for the use of the old currency.


They also appreciated the Kwara state government, under the leadership of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in managing the affairs of the state and their preparation to ensure free and fair elections in the state.

The Organization gave the commendation  in a communique jointly signed by the organization’s Chairman, Prof. ‘Lanre Yusuf Badmas, and the Secretary, Mallam Abubakar Imam Ayinla, after a meeting held in Ilorin at the weekend.

The Islamic body however called on Nigerians, especially the Muslim community to come out  and vote massively in the forthcoming February and MarchGeneral Elections and make best use of their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) during the polls.


The Organization  also appealed to Nigerians to have a change of attitude towards the next polls by ensuring that they vote for the candidates of their choice who have proved themselves to be men and women of integrity.

The communique reminded Nigerians that acquiring PVC and voting is their civic right, adding that failure not to, will deny them of their civic right anytime as Muslims and Islamic bodies.


It also urged President Muhammadu Buhari, who was described as the father of the Nation, to use his fatherly compassion in addressing the lingering crises in the nation’s institutions across the country.


The communique also called on members of the National Assembly to put all efforts together in redeeming the image of the speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, who had promised the payment of the areas of the University staff.


The body added that the governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led administration in kwara state has demonstrated an uncommon understanding in the area of Hijab usage in the state’s schools.


The communique  enjoined the Governor to continue to toe the right path and not to mind distractions from some quarters in the state on the issue of Hijab.
