The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), has donated a well built and furnished administrative block to the Government Secondary School, Ballah in Asa local Government Aeea of State.
Presenting the facility to the school authority during the commissioningof the project on Wednesday (February 8, 2023) the Managing Director of NDIC, Mr Bello Hassan said the project was facilitated by the Chief of Staff to President, Muhammadu Buhari, Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari.
The NDIC boss who was represented at the occasion by Mr Salako Olawale, said the gesture was part of the corporation’s Cooperate Social Responsibility (CSR), adding that that his office has over the years been sponsoring a number of projects in educational institution nationwide and other sectors.
Hassan explained that the essence of the gesture was to make the academic environment conducive for teaching and learning.
According to him, it is common knowledge that most of the Nigeria institutions of learning lack infrastructural facilities resulting in poor standards of education.
“Against this background, it has become necessary for corporate organisations such as NDIC, other well-meaning groups and individuals within and outside the country to come to the aid of our educational institutions,” Mr Hassan said.
In his response, the District Head of Ballah, Alh. Salman AbdulKareem, commended the NDIC for donating the building to the community.
Abdulkareem urged the NDIC to assist in the provision of more structures to schools in the community to enhance the education of their children.
He also appreciated Prof. Gambari for initiating the construction of the project, saying that if more citizen were like him, Nigeria would be a better place for everybody.
The Principal of the School, Mrs Saheed Aishat also commended the NDIC for the gesture and promised to maintain the building.
Mrs Aishat theretore sought for provision of more infrastructure facilities such as Science Laboratory, Library, perimiter fencing of the school and school bus to further enhance effective teaching and learning in the school.
