The Chancellor, Governing Council, Management, Staff and students of Kwara State University have expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Malam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari for their unalloyed support during the trying period of the demise of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN.
This was contained in an appreciation letter issued and signed by the Registrar of the institution, Dr. Kikelomo W. Sallee, and made available to the public.
The University equally appreciated the JAMB Registrar, Professor Is’haq O. Oloyede, the committee of Vice Chancellors, committee of Pro-Chancellods under the chairmanship of Mallam Ola Olu Ali SAN, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammed Bashir, members of the State House of Assembly, and the President of Royal Media Group, Engr. Gbenga Adebayo among others.
“The University especially appreciates the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for physically staying with us during the period.
“We appreciate all members of the Kwara State Executive Council, members of the State House of Assembly and the Kwara State Council of Chiefs led by HRH, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, CFR.
“The University wishes to also thank the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Committee of Vice Chancellors and members of the Bar and Bench.
“Our appreciation also goes to the Chief Imam of Ilorin and the Council of Ulama, the President of Royal Media Group, Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, and other friends of the University too numerous to mention” the statement read in part.
Professor Akanbi died in a private hospital in Lagos on Sunday November 20, 2022 after a brief illness and he has since been buried in accordance with Islamic injunction.
