The Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University (KWASU) Malete, Professor Muhammed Mustapaha Akanbi SAN has described students as important stakeholders that deserve utmost care and best treatment.
Professor Akanbi disclosed this on Tuesday (March 1, 2022) during the opening of a three-day Vice Chancellor’s interactive session with students held at the University Convocation Arena (CVA).
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria said without students there can never be Universitily let alone the Vice Chancellor and other staff members, saying that such critical stakeholders must be handled with love and affection not the other way round.
According to him, the rationale behind the periodic interface with his students is to harvest information on how they are fairing in order to serve them better and make them total students after graduation.
The Vice Chancellor explained that his cardinal objective as the Chief Executive Officer of the institution is to provide KWASU students with basic necessities that will make teaching and learning conducive for both staff and students.
He hinted that arrangements have been concluded to provide students with world-class hostel accommodation with state of the art facilities on campus tagged ‘Smart City’, promising that students will begin to enjoy it from the next academic session by the last quarter of this year.
Speaking on the intorduction of campus shuttle on campus, Akanbi disclosed that the idea was to give students best treatment in terms of vehicular movement on campus, adding that the shuttles have been mandated to convene students within the campus while the tricycle riders (NAPEP riders) will be plying the route from Malete community to Universitily tarmac.
Talking about water supply on campus, and off campus for the students, the Vice Chancellor said the authority of the Universitily was working tooth and nail to ensure that students are constantly provided with portable water, adding that “the biggest room in the world is the room for improvement”
He however commended the students for their patience, perseverance and discipline exhibited throughout the period of the interaction, pointing out that it shows the high level of their maturity and respect for the staff as well as demonstration of untainted love for their University.
Students of Faculties of Engineering and Humanities were addressed while the interaction continues the following day
The meeting was attended by the new Registrar of the Universitily, Dr (Mrs) Sallee Wasilat, all other Principal Officers including the Dean of Student Affairs, Deans of faculties of Humanities and Engineering as well as selected Directors and staff of the University.
