The Kwara State House of Assembly has called on the state government to direct the contractor handling Osi and Ilesha Baruba Campuses of the Kwara State University (KWASU)to go back to sites to justify investment on the project without further delay.
The lawmakers also urged the state government to put all machineries in place to complete Osi and Ilesha Baruba Campuses of KWASU to serve the purpose behind establishing the Institution.
Reading the recommendations of the House during the Tuesday plenary (February 9, 2021), the Speaker of the House, Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi called on the state government to direct the contractor handling two satellite campuses to return to the sites without further delay.
The Speaker directed the House Committee on Public Account to investigate the contract.
Earlier in his submission, the Chairman House Committee on Tertiary Education, Hon. Wahab Opakunle enjoined the government to do everything humanly possible to see to the completion of the project soonest.
Opakunke made the appeal while presenting a report on a Matter of General Importance, titled “The Need for Speedy Completion of Ekiti and Baruten Campuses of Kwara State University, Malete”.
Hon. Opakunle who represents Afon Constituency in Asa local government area of the state, observed that the work on Ilesha Baruba Campus was far below average comparing to the huge sum received by the contractor.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State House of Assembly has on Tuesday approved appointments of additional three Special Advisers in the State,
The approval followed a message from Governor Abdulraman Abdulrazaq addressed to Speaker Yakubu Salihu Danladi and read before the Honorable members.
Speaker Danladi noted that the appointment of the Special Advisers is in line with section 196 subsection 1 of the constitution to assist the governor to perform his function.
