…thanks NEMA for swift intervention
The National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) has approved distribution of relief materials worth millions of naira for victims of rainstorm in Kwara State following the intervention of the Minister of State for Transport, Senator Gbemisola Saraki.
The items to be distributed include thousands of bags of rice, beans, maize and several other materials like roofing sheets, bags of cement, blankets, vegetable oils, mattresses among others.
A statement by Senator Gbemisola Saraki says the NEMA Director General, Retired Air Vice Marshall Muhammadu Muhammed directed that all victims in last rainstorm and flood in Ilorin West, Ilorin East, Ilorin South, Asa and Ifelodun LGA Areas of Kwara State are to benefit from the items.
The minister said that the Minna office of the NEMA would be in Ilorin to coordinate distribution of the items to affected victims of rainstorm and flood.
Items to be distributed include:
- 3,844 Bags of Rice (12.5kg)
- 3,844 Bags of Beans (25kg)
- 3,844 Bags of Maize (12.5kg)
- 384 Kegs of Vegetable Oil
- 641 Cartons of Seasoning
- 320 Cartons of Tinned Tomatoes
- 192 Bags of Salt
- 7,000 Pieces of Mattresses
- 7,000 Pieces of Wax Prints
- 7,000 Pieces of Mosquito Nets
- 7,000 Pieces of Nylon Mats
- 7,000 Pieces of Blankets
- 4,500 Pieces of Ceiling Boards
- 4,500 Bags of Cement
- 4,500 Bundles of Roofing Sheets
- 1,500 Packets fo Zinc Nails
- 500 Bags of 3’ Nails.
Speaking on behalf of the victims, Senator Gbemisola Saraki expressed appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari and Director General of NEMA for coming to the aid of those affected by rainstorm and flood disaster in Kwara State.
She commended the authority of NEMA for providing the succour at this critical moment, saying that the gesture will remain ever green in the minds of the beneficiaries.
