The Vice-Chancellor, Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN, has described the demise of the legal luminary, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Folorunsho AbdulRazaq (SAN) as the end of an era.
Professor Akanbi stated that the pioneer legal practitioner in the Northern Nigeria was a man of many parts, who distinguished himself at different capacities where he served.
In a condolence message issued in Ilorin by the Director of University Relations, Kwara State University, Mr Razaq Sanni, on Saturday (July 25, 2020), the KWASU boss eulogized the late nonagenarian for setting pace in the educational, social and political development of Kwara State and Ilorin Emirate in particular, thus earning him the title of Mutawali of Ilorin Emirate.
The Professor of Law said the contributions of the late patriarch of AbdulRazaq family in Idigba Ilorin would not be forgotten in a hurry, for the first lawyer in the Northern Nigeria etched his footprints in the sands of time.
He noted that though Alhaji AGF AbdulRazaq lived an exemplary and fulfilled life, his death came at a time many Nigerian leaders would have loved to sip from his ocean of knowledge, which spanned decades.
“The demise of the pioneer lawyer in the Northern Nigeria, Alhaji AGF AbdulRazaq struck all of us with utter shock. It is not in contention that he pioneered so many developmental agenda in the North. For us in Kwara State University, Malete, the exit of AbdulRazaq’s patriarch is the end of an era.
“Alhaji AGF AbdulRazaq was a man of many parts, who distinguished himself at different capacities where he served. He set a pace in the educational, social and political development of Kwara State and Ilorin Emirate in particular, which earned him the title of Mutawali of Ilorin Emirate.
“Though Alhaji AGF AbdulRazaq lived an exemplary and fulfilled life, his death came at a time many Nigerian leaders would have loved to sip from his ocean of knowledge, which spanned decades. His exit from this earthly realm would sorely be missed”, Professor Akanbi said.
The KWASU VC urged leaders to emulate the quality attributes that singled out the late Diplomat and first Finance Commissioner in Kwara State, who breathed his last at the ripe age of 93 years.
Professor Akanbi who also joined commiserated with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, members of the AbdulRazaq family and the people of the state over the transition of Alhaji AGF AbdulRazaq to the world beyond.
