The Chairman, Kwara State Chapter of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr Kolade Solagberu has said that no member of the association is currently affected with COVID-19 as reported in some media
Solagberu said that there was an outbreak of Corona Virus with its untoward effects on the nation, association not spared but thanked God for the proactiveness of the association and tremendous work of the NMA Kwara committee
Solagberu stated this on Tuesday while reacting to a report that about 35 Kwara NMA members contracted the novel Corona virus.
He stated this at a press briefing to mark 2020 annual general meeting of the association held at the NMA house, Ilorin, kwara state capital.
According to him, all the NMA kwara members infected have all recovered and discharged home after tested negative twice.
“No Doctor is neither infected now nor being in isolation Center and I appreciate the kwara state government for the efforts so far in fighting Covid 19” he said
He said that the news that sick people should avoid hospitals is not correct as they only discourage people from visiting the sick people in the hospital now to avoid unnecessary crowding and maintaining physical distancing, also encouraged use of face mask and hand hygiene.
” I want to use this medium to appreciate the Kwara state government under the leadership of Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrasaq for his efforts, steps and decisions at combatting covid-19, this in no doubt has helped in the fight against covid-19 as evidenced by statistics”
“We also commiserate with the executive Governor of Kwara state over the loss of his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Aminu Adisa Logun, a seasoned administrator, we pray God Almighty to give the HE and the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear this great loss” he said.
