People of Kwara State have been implored to continue to support the present administration in the state as it remained committed to improving their standard of living.
Kwara State House of Assembly made the call while on oversight tour to Asa, Oyun, Offa, Isin, Oke Ero and Ekiti Local Government Areas of the State.
The Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. Engineer Yakubu Danladi Salihu who led a team to Asa, Oyun and Offa Local Government Areas said the administration of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq was laying solid foundation for a state that all and sundry would be proud of in few years to come.
Addressing the people of Erin-Ile, Rt Hon Salihu said when government is given the required support, more dividends of democracy will be provided.
He assured them and other communities yearning for request from government that the House would look into their demands and liaise with the Executive for necessary action.
The chairman of Erin- Ile Progressive Union, Mr Irewolede Paul and spokesperson for the youths, Comrade Abdulrasheed Elemesi had earlier appealed to the speaker and his entourage to facilitate extension of the Townhall-Station road construction and reconstruction of the bridge.
The lawmakers also inspected the renovated classrooms block and Principal’s office at Ojoku Grammar School, Ojoku.
Rt. Hon. Salihu and his colleagues were also at the Amuyo- Tipper Garrage road in Offa.
The people of Asa Local Government Area were full of gratitude to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the Kwara State House of Assembly for providing them with portable water at Apata-Onire, Foko-Oja, Afon, Ogbondoroko and renovation of classrooms at Ansarul Islam College Laduba.
In their separate remarks, the chairman board of trustees, Afon Community, Alhaji Ibrahim Isiaka and representative of Foko-Oja, Mr Abdulfatai Salam said that they will remain grateful to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the State House of Assembly and solicited for more people oriented programmes and projects
The leader of the second team of Honourable Members on oversight tour to Isin, Oke Ero and Ekiti Local Government Areas, Hon Raphael Olanrewaju Adetiba has commended some contractors who delivered their contracts to specifications.
Hon Adetiba, who is the Deputy Speaker of the House, made the commendation when the lawmakers inspected the renovation of a block of Classroom and Examination Hall at Jamatul Nasri Islam Secondary School, Kajola in Oke Ero Local Government Area of the state.
Hon Adetiba assured that the House would enjoin the state government to give more contracts to indigenous contractors who delivered to specifications to encourage those found wanting to do better.
“ When contractors do good jobs, they should be encouraged by giving them more contractors to motivate others.
Also, when contracts are properly executed, all stakeholders- the government, the contractors and the people- are winners,” Hon Adetiba added.
Some of the projects inspected include the renovation of four classrooms at Ijara Isin High school, renovation of classrooms and exam hall at Jamatul Nasirul Islam Comprehensive High school, Odo-Owa, Osi Central Secondary School and Senior Secondary School, Isolo Opin.
Other projects inspected by the legislators include the 3.5kilometer alsphat over lay Osi township road, the repair of transformers sub station, replacement of broken poles and reconnection of Ejiu and Aiyetoro communities to the national grid, spanning 5 kilometers, restoring electricity to the communities which has been without electricity supply for over two years.
At the reconstruction of Omi Ayin bridge linking Isapa, Eruku and Aiye Kale communities, members of the house are pleased with the level of work done by the state ministry of works.
They believe the reconstruction of the bridge will make movement of farm produce easier of the people.
