Covid 19: MSSN KWAU sets to rollout maiden relief materials

Following the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic that is ravaging the world with Nigeria inclusive, the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), kwara state chapter, has constituted a fund raising committee called MSSN KWAU EMERGENCY RESPONSE AND RELIEF TEAM to cushion the effect of the ongoing sit-at-home order in the state.

The fund raising effort, accouting  MSSN KWAU State Wlfare Officer and Chairman, MSSN KWAU #COVID-19 response team, brother ABDULLAHI OLANREWAJU, was designed to bring relief to people at this critical period.

The committee has so far received anonymous donations of N115,000  and pledge tagged as “Relief Package”, from three donors,  coming in at sum of N100,000; N5,000 and N10,000 respectively.

The committee has concluded all arrangements to distribute relief materials to the poorest of the poor across the state.

The outbreak has led to the loss of thousands of lives across the globe with over a million infected persons worldwide. It is an undeniable fact that the outbreak has occasioned a great toll on health care systems and economies across the globe. Its effect has equally cascaded to a variety of other sectors of our daily lives especially the restriction on all forms of congregations as part of efforts to contain the spread of the virus.

An obvious effect of these measures to curtail the pandemic in our local communities is that a large number of families and individuals (who depend on daily incomes) find it difficult to obtain for themselves the resources necessary for their daily sustenance in these difficult times. Needless to say that many of these categories of a person cannot also afford the necessary medical supplies recommended by the health authorities at this time.
Acknowledging this, the Kwara State Area unit under the auspices of the MSSN Centre, Ilorin intends to join the several efforts already ongoing in different quarters to provide the desperately needed relief materials to the poorest and the most vulnerable members of our community.

The Society accordingly called for generous donations from the general public towards achieving this lofty ideal in relation to our less privileged. The estimated number of persons targeted for this initial intervention and relief is 1000 (One Thousand persons)The items to be provided are1000 pieces of Hand Sanitizers @ #500,0001000 pieces of protective Face masks @ approximately #300,000100 bags of Rice @#2,000,000.001000 pieces of 5kg Semovita @ #1,500,000The members of the relief committee on COVID-19 response are:Bro. The coordination or administration of welfare services for the less privileged, vulnerable or indigent members of this sort is among the principal aims of the MSSN Centre, Ilorin. Accordingly, we invite members of the Public to endeavour to contribute regularly any amount to the purse of the MSSN Centre as Sadaqatul Jaariya (everlasting charity) in this Noble Cause of Allah.
Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah and do not follow up their spending by stressing their benevolence and causing hurt will find their reward secure with their Lord. They have no cause for fear and grief. It is reported in a Hadith On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:Allah (SWT) will say on the Day of Resurrection…“…O son of Adam, I asked you for food and you fed Me not. He will say: O Lord, and how should I feed You when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: Did you not know that My servant So-and-so asked you for food and you fed him not? Did you not know that had you fed him you would surely have found that (the reward for doing so) with Me?” [Muslim]
