The Chairman/ CEO Kayode Adamolekun Foundation (KAF) Engr Kayode Adamolekun has expressed dismay over the rising rate of suicide in the country as he cautioned youths against taking their own life due to some untold hardships.
While speaking at the annual conference of Counseling Association of Nigeria, Adamolekun expressed dismay over the rate of incessant suicides going on in the country, as he called on relevant authority to wake up to their responsibilities and treat the issue as a matter of urgency.
He particularly called on the association to double its efforts in counselling those that are depressed in the society.
Speaking in relation to the theme of this year’s conference ” Counselling as Instrument for self Fulfilment and Social Disorder”, Adamolekun described suicide as an act that is not acceptable in the side of God and as an offense under the law of the country.
Describing the youths as one of the strength of a country, KAF Chairman advised the youths to talk to people about their current challenges as he noted that no condition is permanent, adding that if they speak to people, there might be way out of their current predicament.
He said his foundation was doing all within its reach to bring succor to the youths as they are the major target of the foundation, and however revealed that the foundation is making a conscious arrangement to lend its voice against suicide in the country.
He added that immediately the foundation takes off officially, it will create wealth for the youths and turn them to employers of labour as that alone will guarantee the future of the country.
He reminded the government of its duty to people, stressing that if the government is up to its responsibilities, there won’t be case of people being depressed up to suicide level.
Engr Adamolekun while thanking the association for finding him worthy of the honour, also pray for peace and love in Nigeria, as he urged the well to do in the society to embark on life-saving projects they would be remembered for, which will also bring notable developments in the country.
