…Club honours late Karamo with minute silence
Kwara United FC of Ilorin yesterday at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, recorded a 2-0 victory over visiting Abia Warriors in a Week 13 NPFL encounter.
The match, which was watched by the state Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi and the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Joana Nnazua Kolo ended goalless in the first half.
The home team had to wait till the 75th minutes, for substitute Alamoyo Abdulrazaq to break the deadlock with a low switch to the far corner, after the Harmony Boys had wasted so many scoring chances.
Stephen Adah sealed victory for Kwara United in the 90th minute to earn the much needed maximum points.
Speaking with journalists after the match, Coach Abdullahi Biffo of Kwara United praised his players for the victory, and assured Kwara fans of better outings ahead, affirming that the team will continue to improve match after match.
On his part, Coach Emmanuel Deutsch of Abia Warriors expressed disappointment with the officiating, calling on the officials to improve on their performances, to make NPFL a worthwhile system.
With that hard earned victory, the Harmony Boys now have 13 points, and have zoomed out of the relegation zone.
With their midweek clash with Enyimba FC of Aba postponed, they will have to start preparing for Katsina United on Sunday, in Ilorin.
The club’s General Manager, Bashir Badawiy, who was elated with both the result and display of his team, thanked Kwara football fans and stakeholders for their support, even as he enjoined them to be patient with the team to improve.
He also commended the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi and the Commissioner, Hon. Joana Nnazua Kolo for their support always.
Meanwhile, a minute silence was observed before the encounter, in honour of the departed former member of Kwara United FC Fans Club, late Imam Bolaji Karamo.
The management had in a statement, condoled the family of late Karamo, who was one of the strong members of its supporter’s wing, Kwara United Fans Club.
Karamo, who was until his death, the Imam of Ojodu Mosque in Ilorin, left this sinful world on Saturday.
Late Karamo was a founding member of the Fans Club, a Club formed to complement the efforts of the Supporters Club, and a former Missioner of the body.
Also in a message by the Chairman of the Supporters Club, Imam Moshood Gambari, he described the late Karamo as a gentleman and a sports lover, whose contributions to the support base of the team will be greatly missed.
Chairman of the Fans Club, Toyin Oniye prayed Allah to grant the dead Aljanah Fridaos, and the family the fortitude to bear the great loss.
