New Kwara Polytechnic Rector, Dr Muhammed
The Balogun Gambari Youth Movement (BAGYUM), a youth organization whose membership cut across the four political wards in Ilorin East local government area of kwara state has lauded the appointment of Engineer (Dr) ABDUL, JIMOH Muhammed as the new Rector of the Kwara state Polytechnic, Ilorin.
The group also commended the Executive Governor of the state, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq over the choice of Dr Muhammed, describing his appointment as a step in a right direction.
BAGUM, in a statement signed by it’s President, Mallam Sulaiman Olayinka Sakariyah said the appointment of Dr Muhammed further confirmed Governor Abdulrazaq’s sincerity of purpose and seal determination to use the right person for the right job.
The President added that Dr Muhammed’s appointment as the Kwara Polytechnic Rector and other political appointments the governor has been making since inception of his administration is a clear reflection of his resolve to move Kwara state to the next level, using the right people as decision makers in the state.
The BAGYUM President however described the newly appointed Rector as a seasoned academician and consummate admnistrator who has made an indelible mark in every public office he had served meritoriously in the state.
He said the new Rector was one time a lecturer at the Kwara Polytechnic, University of Ilorin and Federal Polytechnic, Offa where he rose through the ranks to become the Deputy Rector Academic, a position he occupied until his new appointment as the new Rector of Kwara state Polytechnic, Ilorin.
He therefore advised the new Rector to bring his vast experience to bear in the discharge of his duty, as the Rector, so as to justify the confidence reposed on him by the entire kwarans.
Sakariyah assured him of the BAGYUM’s unalloyed support and assistance at all times for him to record a resounding success.
BAGYUM is a Non Governmental Youth Organisation (NGO) who membership was drawn from four political wards vis-a-vis Gambari I, Gambari II, Ibagun and Zango Wards all in Ilorin East local government area of the state.
ABRIDGED PROFILE OF DR JIMOH
ENGR. (DR.) ABDUL, JIMOH Muhammed was born on the 11th February, 1966, he bagged his SSCE from the Ansarul-Islam Secondary School, Ilorin in 1984 before he proceeded to the University of Ilorin for his first degree in Mechanical Engineering between 1985 – 1990.
He then returned to University of Ilorin for his second degree between 1994 – 1998.
In his penchant for more education he proceeded to the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife between 2002 -2008 for his Masters degree in mechanical Engineering, before traveling to South Africa, University of Witwatersrand for his PhD degree (Met. and Mat. Sc.) between 2012 -2015.
He started his work life with the Kwara State Polytechnic, Institute Of Technology (IOT) between July 1992-October 1999) as an Assistant Lecturer.
He joined the University of Ilorin, Ilorin for a brief stint between October 1999 to April 2000 as Assistant Lecturer, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
He thereafter proceeded to the Federal Polytechnic, Offa. (2nd May 2000 to 10th Feb. 2012) as Chief Lecturer and Dean, Faculty of Engineering (Dec. 2008 – Feb. 2012). He was appointed the the Deputy Rector, Academics in the same Polytechnic.
Dr. Abdul have served in several local and international committees with sparkling records of impact some of which include Committee on reconnaissance survey of various Streams and Rivers in Offa Local Government Area (Chairman), Maiden School of Engineering National Conference (Chairman), Investigation panel on allegation of admission forgery and result racketeering.

He’s a member of several professional bodies some of which include Corporate Member, Nigeria Society of Engineers, Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) among others.
