Quality Education is my priority — Gov Abdulrazaq

The Kwara State Government has again reiterated its administration’s commitment to support innovative ideas and a truly transformative education system in the State.

The Executive Governor of the State, Mallam AbdulRazaq AbdulRaham disclosed this during the National Library 2019 Readership Promotion Campaign with the theme: “Reading, A tool for Empowering the Vulnerable” held at Borstal Training Institute, Ganmo, today.

The Governor, according to a statement signed by the present Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Yakub K. Aliagan, was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Hajia Mariam Ayodeji Garba.

He stressed the need to consciously inculcate the values and norms of reading culture in children.

In his words, “We must consciously inculcate the values and norms of reading culture in our children. We must consciously reward excellence and frown at mediocre performance “.

Mallam AbdulRaham also revealed that the state government will soon start the renovation and refurbishment of Kwara State Library with full internet access and other accessories necessary for 21st century education.

According to him, the step would no doubt boost reading culture and human capital development in the state.

Earlier, the National Librarian, Prof. Aina L. O. who was represented by the Kwara Sate Director of National Library, Mrs. Kafayat Olani commended the state governor for taking education development a priority in the state.

She therefore enjoined all stakeholders in the education sector to join hands with the present administration in its bid to take education to greater heights.

The program featured debate and poetry recitation by students of Borstal Training Institute, Ganmo.
