The Ilorin Emirate Staff Association (IESA), University of Ilorin on Sunday (October 6, 2019) organised a special prayer in honour of late members of the institution who were indigenes of the Emirate.
The prayer session, which held at Ilorin Eid Praying Ground, was jountly led by Professor Abdulsalam Ahmad, Professor Abdulrazaq Oniye and the Murshid of the association, Mallam Solihu Mashood Ibraheem.
The prayer, which also featured the monthly prayer of the association, was used to seek divine mercy for the departed souls who have served the University of Ilorin and Ilorin Emirate community meritoriously before their demise.
Among the late members whose instances the prayer was organised include late Professor Shehu Jimoh, late Dr Shehu Adebayo Kamaldeen Adaramaja (Education), late Professor Saka S. Baba (Vet. Medicine), late Mallam Abdulganiyu Yahaya (Admin).
Others include late Engr. Sulaiman A Y Amuda (Engineering Department), late Dr Abdulganiyu Alasela (Educational Technology) late Alhaji Agaka (Admin), late Lawyer Dare Akanbi (Legal Unit) among others.
The association also used the medium to pray for other staff of the University of Ilorin that are not indigenes of the Emirate and the entire Muslim Ummah who have equally left this sinful world.
The association also prayed for the students, staff and management of the University of Ilorin and the successful tenure of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sulyman Age Abdulkareem
Speaking shortly after the prayer, the Chairman of IESA, Professor Sulaiman Alege Kuranga said the rationale behind the prayer was to offer prayer to the creator to kindly put a stop to the cases of losing members to the world beyond.
Professor Kuranga explained that the record of death rate of members being recorded in the recent times came as a rude shock and has become a big concern to living members, stressing that the need for special prayer of this nature becomes very imperative.
The prayer was attended by members of both academic and non academic staff of the University who are indegenes of Ilorin Emirate.
