High rate of crime commission and incessant cases of the consumption of dangerous drugs and illicit substances among Nigerian youth have been attributed to the faliure of many parents to embrace family planning.
The Kwara State Chairman of the Awareness Initiative For Good Living (AIGL), Alhaji Wahab Ajibola disclosed this on Tuesday (October 1, 2019) in Ilorin during the AIGL 2019 Close Out Meeting held at NAPPMED office, Kulende/Akerebiata road, Ilorin.
He lamented that there is strong nexus between family planning and crime commission, saying that children left uncatered for are liable to cause social unrest in the society.
The AIGL Chairman counseled all parents in the country to attach seriousness to family planning and birth spacing for the benefit of the health of the mother and for the attainment of rancour-free society.
In his comment, Dr Imam Hussein Arikewusola informed the gathering that Imams of various mosques and other Muslims preachers in the state have been giving sermons on family planning, adding that the issue of birth spacing and family planning are clearly spelt out in the Glorious Qurian and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Also speaking at the meeting, the state Secretary of the AIGL, Hajia Baliqees Oladimeji appealed to all media Houses in the state to join hands with AIGL in her bid to create a good living for all through a continuous reports on family planning in their respective medium.
Highlights of the meeting include update from state Ministry of Health, activities for advocacy in the next quota, submission of memo on Family planning for the local government on FP budget, ACOMIN report on malaria advocacy and acountability, report from budget review meeting, update from religious leaders among others.
