The outgoing National President of the Congress of National Open University of Nigeria Students (CoNS), Comrade Adewoyin Tijani Adekola has handed over the leadership of the union to the Vice President Administration.
Comrade Adekola, who is pularly known as TEEJAY, said he handed over to the Vice President of the union following his plan to contest for the position of the Vice President North Central, National Association of University Students (NAUS) in the coming convention of the association slated for July 25th to 28th 2019.
He said his handing over was in line with the constitution of the union.
“On this note, I am handing over the leadership affairs of CoNS today, 25th day of July, 2019 to CoNS vice president (Administration) to act as the National President of CONS as stated by CoNS constitution till the end of 2018/2019 administration” he said.

MY OUTGOING PRESIDENTIAL AND HANDING OVER MESSAGE:
My name is Comrade Adewoyin Tijani Adekola popularly known as TEEJAY.
Today is a great day to me and I want to give all glory to ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala for HIS abundant mercies and blessings upon me for all the years holding leadership positions from the days of being the Head of NOUN Ilorin study centre students Representative, especially this past year/session as the National President of our prestigious union, Congress of National Open University of Nigeria Students (CoNS), for without HIS guidance, I would not have been able to carry out my responsibilities as the leader of the students’ union. May HIS blessings continue to be upon the noble Prophet Muhammed (SAW), whom HE laid great foundation of how to be a good leader!
Congress of NOUN Students (CoNS) was founded in the year 2012 and I want to use this medium to appreciate the founders of this great union, led by Comr. Abdulrazaq O. Hamzat who considered the ban of students’ union in our dear institution as an unconstitutional aberration and a deliberate act to undermine the constitutional rights of free association. Most importantly to seek and protect the students’ right before the management and government in all ramification.
My candid thanks goes to my dear boss and predecessor, Patriot Lurd Bouch who sincerely impart and hand over the mantle of good leadership to me. Today, I appreciate you for your efforts at all time and always providing adequate advice when necessary.
Also, this journey would have not been possible without the support of the executive cabinet, the members of the council, judiciary team and all appointed officers at all levels of Congress of NOUN Students (CoNS). If I should begin to mention names and appreciate individuals effort, I may not finish writing my goodwill message for the next one year as you are all part of my life and I love you all sincerely according to your input during TEEJAY’s tenure in office.
I have attended other higher learning institution before National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). I am convinced that our institution is one of the best in Nigeria and among the leading Open and Distance Learning Institution in the world.
Today, history is made to my name as I have done my part by contributing positively towards maintaining good image of the institution also to protect the interest of the union, Congress of NOUN Students. I started this journey as:
Head of Ilorin study centre, known as study centre representative 2017/2018.
Six (6) weeks after, I became national assistance media director 2017/2018.
My positive impact during the 2017/2018 regime made me gather experience and interest in contesting for office of National President in the 2018/2019 session which:
I became the first elected National president. As the president, I achieved:
Bringing 90% involvement of members, executives,
study centre representatives that constitute the Legislative arm (Council) at national, zonal and study centres to Congress of NOUN Students (CoNS).
The first president to create offices of SA, SSA, PA and the likes.
Expanding and widening the number of study centres involvement in Congress of NOUN Students (CoNS) as against what I inherited.
Before my regime, CoNS was partial part of National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) and National Association of University Students (NAUS).
At the Convention of NANS, held in Nasarawa state university, my led regime formalize our membership with NANS and NAUS which we are an affiliate body now.
As an affiliate body of National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) and National Association of University Students (NAUS), my led administration partnered with them to achieve great feet of signing National Open University of Nigeria into Act last year December, by the President, Muhammadu Buhari. In due time, our student will be able to go for NYSC and Law school (I believe I deserve some accolades).
Currently, I am the SSA on Media and Publicity to the Senate President, NANS and an aspirant for the office of vice president North Central, National Association of University Students (NAUS) in the coming convention of the association stated for July 25th to 28th 2019 in the bid to carry on my humanitarian function for Nigerian students.
On this note, I am handing over the leadership affairs of CoNS today, 25th day of July, 2019 to CoNS vice president (Administration) to act as the National President of CONS as stated by CoNS constitution till the end of 2018/2019 administration.
As your former boss and humble servant, I appreciate all National Open university of Nigeria Students for their support and contributions so far for the successful journey of my tenure right from the beginning till this precious moment.
May Almighty God bless and provide for us, all our heart desires. AMEN!
