Kwara APC Guber: Group condemns Imposition of Abdulrasaq

Kwara Unity Elders Forum (KUEF), a group under the leadership of former Governor of Kwara state, Chief Cornelius Adebayo has atrongly condemned the purported imposition of a govenrorship aspirant, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq by the National leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) to be the party flagbearer come 2019 governorship elecyion .

The group described the governorship primary of the APC as a window dressing venture that was allegedly meant to impose an aspirant on the members of the party in the state.

The Coordinator of the group, Dr. Saliu Ajia said this in his reaction to the APC’s gubernatorial congress in the state said “the alleged imposed candidate, Alhaji Abdulrasaq lack capacity and exposure to win the next year governorship election in the state”.

He said “It is disheartening to note that, the national leadership of our party, APC can allegedly coerce our members to queue behind an aspirant that cannot win any election in Kwara state”.

“Some aspirants have been coerced to step down for Alhaji Abdulrasaq which is against the tenet of democratic norms.

“We are working tirelessly to free our state from the perceived bondage that we had been battling with for over 40 years now but the national leadership of our party, APC is trying to add to the sufferings and we will not accept such alleged imposition in our state.

“We have shortlisted two suitable and sellable aspirants, Mr. Hakeem Lawal and Alhaji Lukman Mustapha upon which one of them should emerge as our candidate but we are surprised that our national leadership of APC had mandated the national officers that would conduct the primary to pave way for Alhaji Abdulrasaq to emerge as the APC governorship candidate in Kwara.

“I want to say that, the group and another group called Kwara Rescue Movement would not be part of such arrangement and it must be reversed without further delay and if not, we will move out of APC because APC is not the only party in Nigeria”

He described the alleged imposition as an act of endangering the nations democracy, which should not be allowed to stand.

He appealed to his supporters to remain calm and not to take laws into their hands while they await further directives.
