……demands national honour for Baba-Ari
The Kwara state Labour Party flagbearer for the 2019 gubernatorial election, Comrade Issa Aremu mni has attributed perpetual backwardness of the state to the attitude of the government towards workers’ salaries and other entitlements.
Aremu said the persistent retrogression being experienced in the state could only be put to a halt if workers are paid good salaries as and when due.
He said kwara state is currently a civil servant state due to the collapse of many industries in the state, saying that attractive and regular salary of workers are basic ingredients that drive the economy in any society.
The governorship flagbearer disclosed this in Ilorin on Monday during a special Independence Anniverssary celebration being organised by the Labour Party, held at the party secretriat, along Ajase-Ipo road, Ilorin.
Comrade Aremu who expressed sadness over the collapse of many vibrant industries in kwara state, pledged to revive those industries and build new ones if elected as the state governor come 2019 election.
He explained that re-establishment of the hitherto vibrant industries like Jebba Paper Mill, Tate and Line, Bacita Sugar Compay, Matchco industry will not only boost the state economy but also generate massive job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youth and adults in the state.
He disclosed that Labour Party is the only Party in kwara state that celebrated Nigerian 58th Independence Anniversary, saying that it shows that Labour Party cares alot about history, development and growth of Nigeria and Nigerians.
He therefore advised the federal government to as a matter of priority consider the possibility of the payment of the new minimum wage being demanded for by the organised labour in the country so as to justify the confidence Nigerian workers reposed in the current administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Comrade Aremu also used the medium to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to honour late Squadron Leader, Bello Baba-Ari of the Nigeria Airforce who died in plane crash in Abuja during a preparation for the country’s 58th Independence.
Aremu said Baba-Ari is a hero because he died for the country, adding that it is logical that such a hero should be given a posthumus national honour.
