The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari will tomorrow Saturday organise a special prayer in honour of the indigenes of Ilorin Emirate who have just been elevated to the iconic positions of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Professorship, and other leadership positions in the University of Ilorin and other tertiary institutions cross the country and beyond.
The prayer, according to the Emir, is to appreciate God for His grace and mercies upon the sons and duaghters of the Emirate who have been making waves in their respective places of work.
Dr Yaqub Imam Aliagan of Religious Department, University of Ilorin, disclosed this on Thursday while speaking at the special prayer organised for the new professors and SAN at the instance of the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem held at his Adewole residence, Ilorin.
Aliagan said Emir was excited with the rising profile of sons and daughters of the Emirate, describing the good scenario as mission accomplished.
According to Aliagan, “God has actually answered my prayers, because my continous payers for the sons and daughters of Ilorin Emirate is to rise from grace to grace”, Aliagan quoted Emir.
He said the prayer will hold at the Emir Palace, Ilorin, beginning at 10am propmt.
Dr Aliagan therefore admonished the new SAN, new Professors and the two newly appointed Deputy Registrars to see their elevation as special gift and honour from Allah with an advice to use their positions for service to God and humanity.
Dr Aliagan also used the forum to pray for peaceful and harmonious Nigeria with a prayer to God to grant the country selfless leaders that will pilot the affairs of this country to a meaningful and enviable standard come 2019 general elections.
Also speaking at the prayer session, the immediate past Deputy Vice Chancellor Management Services, University of Ilorin, Professor Yusuf Abdulkareem commended the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Sulyman Age Abdulkareem for his good leadership quality and for providing enabling environment which according to him heralded the smooth appointment of new professors in the university.
Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi of Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin was officially conferred with the apex position of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on Monday in Abuja.
While the new Professors from Universsity of Ilorin are Professor Shehu Adaramaja – Human Kinetic Education; Professor Abdulfatah Olokoba – Medicine; Professor Alafara A. Baba – Industrial Chemistry; Professor Akanbi II – Medical Microbiology; Professor Kajogbola R. Ajao – Mechanical. Engineering; Professor Abubakar – English; Professor Abdulwahab O. Issa – Librarian; Professor (Mrs) Aishat Gobir – Paediatrics; Professor L. A. Usman – Chemistry; Professor Nihmat Modupe Abdulraheem – Law; Professor Ibrahim Arowosaiye Yusuf – Law; Professor Ibrahim Abikan – Law; Professor Abdulrazzaq Alaro – Law; Professor Isa Alabi Abubakar – Arabic; Prof. M. K. Mustapha – Zoology; and Professor Baba Issa – Behavioural Science.
While Mr Kazeem Kayode Babamale and Mrs Bilqees Saadu were promoted to the position of Deputy Registrar.
The prayer seesion which was led by Imam Mashood Solihu was attended by celebrants, staff of the University friends and relatives of the celebrants among others.
Highlight of the event include presentation of gifts to all the celebrants at the instance of the conveiner of the prayer, Professor Oba, while food and drinks were served librally to all people in attendance.
