The Emir of Ilorin Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari has thrown his weight behind the succss of Senator Muhammed Shaaba Lafiagi over his aspiration to become the kwara state governor on the platform of People Democratic Party (PDP), during the 2019 election.
The Emir pledged his support during the week when Senator Lafiagi paid him a visit in his palace, describing him as an experienced, tested and capable politician.
Dr Gambari who is the Chairman, Kwara state Council of Traditional Chiefs, said Senator Lafiagi’s antecedents as former Governor of the state and two-term senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria speaks more volume about his ability to take kwara to the next level.
His Royal Highness used the avenue to offer prayers for the aspirant, blessed his aspiration and pledged to support him as he always does to him all the time.
Earlier In his comment, Senator Lafiagi described his visit to the palace as home coming ,saying that he was the palace to seek for royal blessings over his ambition.
Senator Lafiagi and his teeming entourage were received with fanfare and carnival like atmosphere at the palace as they were ushered in by Sarkin Sallama of Ilorin to the inner chambers of his eminence.
Meanwhile, the State Chairman of PDP, Engineer Kola Shittu described Senator Lafiagi as a former governor of Kwara state with records of developmental stride in the state.
Shittu gave the commendation when Shaaba Lafiagi paid a visit to the party secretariat in Ilorin, adding that he has made an indelible mark which can never be forggotten in a hury in kwara state.
His words ” If we have the power to hand over the party ticket to any contestant we would have given it to you without hesitation considering your pedigree and antecedents but our job as state exco is to ensure all contestants have level play ground”.
“I was a member of House of Representatives when Alh Shaaba was a Governor and I was keenly following all his developmental stride in the State” PDP chairman confirmed.
He pledged that the party would provide a level playing ground for him and all other contestants on the platform of PDP in the state. He wished him success on his aspirations and promised to do justice to all.
While opening the discussion, the Senatorial Chairman for Kwara North, Alh Isiaka Oniwa said the party was delighted to play host to a prominent son of Kwara North who needs no introduction.
“Apart from being a former Governor, he is a two term Senator of the federal republic of Nigeria” Oniwa said.
In his remarks, Senator Shaaba Lafiagi said his decision to indicate interest in governorship seat was a response to clarion calls and pledged to use his experience to durther put the state on a good footing.
“I am here to intimate the State Chairman and the entire State Excos that I have healed to the calls of Kwarans to bring my wisdom, experience, perseverance and Managerial ability to consolidate on the gains of building Kwara of our dreams” he said.
According to him, when I was opportune to Govern the State I initiated lots of developmental projects that have direct impact on the lives of Kwarans.
He said he had toured the entire local governments in Kwara State and endured to pass night at each Local Government Areas, adding that the visitation put him at a vantage position to understudy the people at their natural inhabitant.
“Without sounding immodest We feed our best within the available resources and time” he said, adding that “Since Allah in His bonavolence still give us life and good health we believe we can do better if given a chance”Lafiagi pledged.
In the Same vein, Senator Lafiagi interracted with the advisory committee of ABS as he assured the committee of his willingless to do more for the state if given the chance to govern the state once again.
Lafiagi who honoured the invitation of the committee pledged his readiness to honour their invitation anytime the need arises.
However, it was observed that the ABS Advisory committee might have extended similar invitations to other aspirants as the media team of Senator Shaaba spotted Alhaji Ladi Hassan and Muhammed Ajia Ibrahim whom have both purchased PDP nomination form and expression of interest form to contest for Governor of Kwara State under PDP.
