An Ilorin Chief Magistrate Court has ordered that one Suleiman Abdullateef, (23) of Alagbede Compound, Ajikobi, Ilorin be remanded at Federal Prison Yard, Ilorin for allegedly being in possession of locally made pistol.
The accused and others now at large were said to have been using gun to terrorise innocent people of the community before he was apprehended.
The accused had appeared in court on a one-count charge of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, which contravened Section 3l27 (1) (A) (IV) of the Firearms Act.
The accused was apprehended on August 8 by one Alhaji Suleiman Mohammed of Okobiyi Shopping Complex Okolowo Area, Ilorin, having alleged him of terrorizing the community with others members of his gang (now at large).
A locally made pistol and cartridges were said to have been recovered from the accused around the Shopping Complex, hence he was handed over to the operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, Ilorin.
According to the First Information Report ( FIR) investigations conducted at the Intelligence and Investigations Department of NSCDC revealed that the accused committed the act and was caught with pistol and cartridges when searched by the Vigilante group of the area.
The prosecutor, Mr. Kehinde Ajide told the court that investigation into the case was still in progress and urged the court to remand the accused in prison custody pending the outcome of the investigation.
The judge, Mr. J.B. Salihu ordered that the accused be remanded in the Federal Prison Yard, Ilorin and adjourned the case till August 29 for further mention.
