A 24 year-old housemaid, Funmilola Oladipupo of Danialu area, Upper Gaa-Akanbi, Ilorin was on Tuesday (January 17, 2018) remanded at the Federal Prison Yard, Oke-Kura, Ilorin for allegedly stealing N30 million worth of gold jewelries belonging to her employer.
An Ilorin Chief Magistrate Court ordered the remand of the accused having appeared before it on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and theft, contrary to Section 97 and 287 of Penal Code Law.
Trouble began for the accused when she reported herself at ‘A’ Division Police Station, Ilorin that she criminally conspired with three other people (now at large) to steal her boss gold jewelries valued at N30 million, when her boss Bola Fatigun of Academic Taiwo Street, Danialu area, Ilorin was away to Lagos.
The accused was also said to have made away with unspecified amount of money from her boss bedroom. She allegedly committed the crime on May 19, 2017.
Police First Information Report (FIR) stated that during the course of investigation at the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Ilorin the accused confessed to the crime.
The prosecutor, Inspector Alhassan Jubril informed the court that investigation into the case was ongoing. He prayed the court to remand her in prison custody to enable the police carryout detailed investigation.
Chief Magistrate I. O. Olawoyin acceded to the submission of the prosecutor and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Federal Prison Yard, Oke-Kura, Ilorin and adjourned the case till January 31 for further mention.
