Activities marking this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration and Emblem Appeal Week was rounded off today across the Country with the laying of wreaths by Eminent Nigerians and Military personnels.
In Ilorin, the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed represented by his Deputy, Elder Peter Kisira led others to lay wreaths at the Metro park.
Others who laid wreaths at the colourful ceremony was the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Doctor Alli Ahmad who was represented by his Deputy, Mr Mathew Okedare, the State Chief Judge represented by Justice Titilayo Diabu, the Commander two-two Armoured Brigade, Sobi, Colonel Ola Falade, the State Commissioner of Police, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development and the Emir of Ilorin.
The programme featured special prayer for the reposed of the fallen heroes and their families, the observation of two minutes silence and the firing of twenty one gun salute.
The occasion was attended by the State Head of Service, Mrs Dupe Oluwole, members of the State Executive and Security Councils, APC Leaders and members.
The over one week long programme featured the launching of Remembrance Emblem, Jummaat prayer on Friday and Christian Interdenominational Church Service held yesterday.
