A member of the House of Representatives for Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency, Dr Ahmed Adamu Saba, has warned an online medium, Saharareporters against publishing misleading reports on his alleged indebtedness over a pre-election legal fee.
He noted that the recent publication in the online report was cloaked to whip up emotion and subject him to public ridicule.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Personal Assistant to Dr Saba, Mohammed Salihu, titled “Saharareporters: Don’t Change the Narratives”.
He noted that the intention of Saharareporters was to merely trend on the social media space while throwing into the dustbin professionalism aspect of media practice.
The lawmaker’s aide asked the online medium to verify the truth before dishing out information that could drag the name of prominent people into the mud.
Salihu described his principal as a responsible citizen, who possesses an impeccable record of integrity, truthfulness and faithfulness.
“We are by this statement cautioning Saharareporters against spreading falsehood on the personality of Dr Ahmed Adamu Saba. The report on the online medium of his alleged indebtedness on a pre-election litigation is designed to whip up emotion and subject him to odium.
“Responsible media practice calls for truthfulness in reportage. What is expected is to verify information at your disposal and publish the truth and not because you want to trend at all cost.
“A careful read of the report in the online medium showed that it is meant to inflame passion so that the personality of the distinguished lawmaker in the House of Representatives would be dragged into the mud.
“Those who know Dr Ahmed Adamu Saba can attest to his character, personality and untainted integrity. Let it be known that he would not be deterred but continue on the trajectory of truthfulness and faithfulness”, Salihu said.
