The Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), said no fewer than 13,000 victims of 2022 rain storm disaster have received relief materials in the ongoing distribution exercise.
The Secretary of SEMA, Mallam Saad Mashood Magaji disclosed this in Ilorin on Wednesday while speaking with newsmen.
The relief materials are from the Federal Government and the distribution exercise was being carried out by the National Emergency Management Agency in collaboration with SEMA.
Magaji said the enumeration of the victims which was conducted between April and May 2022, captured about 19,000 beneficiaries across the 12 Local Government Areas of the state.
The affected local governments according to him, include Ilorin West, Moro, Edu, Patigi, Ilorin South, Ilorin East, Baruten, Kaiama, Asa, Offa, Oyun and Ifelodun.
He said the first phase which comprise six local governments including Offa, Oyun, Patigi, Edu, Ilorin East, Ilorin South and Asa, has been concluded,
He added the distribution exercise is at the second stage for Edu, Ilorin West, Moro, Ifelodun, Kaiama and Baruten local governments.
Magaji explained that all the items expected from the National Emergency Management Agency to cover all the beneficiaries captured during the enumeration exercise are yet to be completed.
He said the state was still expecting the remaining items from NEMA, expressing hope that the remaining items would arrive state before the end of this month.
SEMA Secretary said the distribution exercise was designed to provide succour to the victims of 2022 rain storm disaster.
He said the agency which is saddled with emergency and relief services, has been very fair and just in the distribution of the relief materials.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicous use of the items in order to achieve the purpose of the exercise.
