Muslim faithful have been implored to be benevolent to everyone regardless of their dispositions towards them, as true Muslims are those who strive to do good even to their traducers.
The Deputy Chief Imam of the Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA), Dr Sikiru Olanrewaju Subairu gave the charge in his sermon at the Jumuah prayer held at the institution’s Central Mosque, Gidan Kwano Campus, Minna, Niger State.
Mallam Subairu, who is a lecturer at the Cyber Security Science Department, FUTMINNA, enjoined Muslims to allow the teachings of the Glorious Qur’an and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad to reflect in their daily lives to live and die as true believers.
He particularly admonished the faithful to inculcate the habit of visiting sick persons, maintaining family kinship, praying for people around them, exchanging gifts with people and being kind to their parents, saying that such acts are very rewarding in the sight of Allah.
According to him, “You are not a pious Muslim until you do good to those that are oppressing you. If you are kind to those that are kind to you, you simply return kindness but if you force your soul to be kind to those that are unkind to you, that is a great rewarding deed in the sight of Allah”
Dr Subairu, who quoted various Qur’anic verses and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) copiously to buttress his points, said great punishment awaits those who cut the lines of kinship and those who left their parents uncatered for.
He admonished people to be kind to their parents and refrain from cutting the ties of kinship, stressing that wisdom, kindness, and nobility should be the watchwords of true believers.
