The Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mal. Abdulrahman Abdulrasak has disclosed that Kwara State University has transformed the economic and social destiny of the Malete community for the better.
Mal. Abdulrahman, who was represented by the Commissioner for Tertiary Institution, Hajiya Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, made the disclosure Friday at the combined 8th and 9th convocation ceremony of Kwara State University (KWASU).
The Governor noted that the KWASU has been demonstrating her commitment to advancing knowledge, innovation, and the development of humanity.
Mal. Abdulrahman noted further that KWASU has continued to produce excellent young men and women who are equipped to make impact in not just Nigeria but the whole world.
He commended the efforts of the Governing Council, management, staff and students of the University for “upholding the mission and vision of the University”, and congratulated the graduands and their parents.
He also reiterated the commitment of the Kwara State government to invest in the education sector of the state.
He said, “I will like to place on record the giant strides attained by Kwara State University within the few years of its existence as an emerging world class University of the 21st century. It has been able to give proper account of itself as a center of educational excellence committed to the expansion of the frontiers of knowledge, innovation, and advancement of the cause of humanity in general.
“Today, Kwara State University is a reference among state-owned universities in Nigeria. The University has transformed the destiny of Malete in terms of economic growth and social development.
“Our gathering here for the combined convocation ceremony is because Kwara State University has successfully bred another set of excellent young men and women who are going to take the world in their hands.”
