The Vice Chancellor of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Professor Muhammed Mustapaha Akanbi SAN has, on behalf of Management, staff and students of the University, commiserated with the immediate family members of Ajayi Gideon,  a student of KWASU who died on Saturday.

The 19-year-old Student of Computer Science died in the early hours of Saturday, 9th October, 2021.

Professor Akanbi in a condolence statement signed by the Director of University Relations, Mr Razaq Sanni, also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the entire members of the University community on the loss of the promising boy.

Gideon, known to have a special medical condition, died in transit to the referral Hospital-University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital at about 3:00am.

Prior to his demise, the deceased had reportedly been ill for some days and resorted to self medication. Consequently, he was said to have been found almost lifeless in his room by friends at about 2:30am, who rushed him to the School Clinic that fateful morning. He was resuscitated, stabilized and subsequently referred to the tertiary health institution for evaluation and further management before he drew his last breathe while in transit.

Professor Akanbi prayed that God grant his parents fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The Vice Chancellor, therefore, implored students to desist from self medication and  present without  delay, all cases of ill health on time, to the school clinic, which has medical personnel and facilities for quality primary healthcare delivery.
