The French Government has offered to partner the Kwara State Government to develop its agricultural potentials for the benefit of the people of the State, most especially the rural dwellers.
The French Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Jerome Pasquier dropped this hint in Ilorin during his visit to one of the market hubs in Alapa, Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Mr. Pasquier, who was on a visit to the State of Harmony along his team, identified development in agricultural sector and markets as potent tools for improving the lives of the common people.
The Envoy in a statement signed by the Communication Officer of the Kwara Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), Mr Ishola Gbenga Emmanuel, assured that his country would fast track plans to assist the Kwara State Government, specifically commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his giant strides at improving the welfare of the people.
Pasquier also thanked the Kwara Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) and the State Project Implementation Unit (SPIU) for their dedication to work.
In his remarks, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Mamman Saba Jibril thanked the French Ambassador for his words of assurance, which he said has lifted the spirit of the people of the State.
The Governor assured that the state government will sustain all its life improving programmes domiciled in Kwara, appealing to the French Ambassador to fast track the process that will bring about a timely release of their counterpart funds.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Suleiman Rotimi Iliasu thanked the Ambassador and his team for creating time to visit Kwara, especially at a time like this.
Engr. Iliasu enumerated the efforts of the state government at improving the lives of its people, as well as other laudable plans already put in place by the state government.
The Kwara RAAMP Project Co-ordinator, Engr. Abdulwahab Agboola Akorede disclosed that Kwara was the first among other RAAMP participating States to embark on pilot road projects.
Engr. Akorede, however, appealed to the envoy for prompt release of counterpart funds in order to kickstart the RAAMP programme in earnest.
