VGN lauds gov AbdulRazaq’s security consciousness

The Kwara State  Commander of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), Mr Saadu Bolorunduro has commended Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq for his efforts in sustaining peaceful co-existence in the state.

The state VGN leader also appealed to the Governor to continue to intensify more efforts in ensuring that Kwarans enjoy more peace through his style of leadership.

Bolorunduro in an exclusive interview with newsmen equally appealed to Governor  AbdulRazaq to fully inaugurate the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) in the state for more protection of lives and properties.

Mr Saadu speaking at Okolowo area, Ilorin the headquarters of the group, expressed sadness over the poor state of security in Nigeria. “Even though Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq has used his wealth of experience to bring sanity to the State ,particularly on Security issue ” he said.

He disclosed that the VGN has collaborated with various security agencies in the state, especially the police at different operations, saying that the operations were successful.


He informed that the VGN in the state now has a formidable and united single body with adequate man power to tackle various security challenges.

He also reintrated that, “during the period of CP Peter Gana, a former Police Commissioner in Kwara State, members of the VGN were involved to prevent robbery plans by some Armed robbers planning to attack the people of Offa, Oro and Omu-Aran towns.


“Till this present time, the VGN is still working together with the security operatives in Kwara state to prevent attack on people and properties”.


He explained that, “we have association of hunters and association of Vigilante which according to him,  the two organisations are differ in activities and roles “.


He added, ” the VGN prevented operation of Armed robbers at Bode saadu, Alhaja Ayo pharmacy at Amilegbe in 2010. The group also partnered some security operatives to prevent  Ipata Oloje, Jebba road and Amilegbe people from been attacked by robbers in 2017″.
The VGN boss also urged Kwara state government not to politicise or tribalise security issue in the dtate, saying that security issues should always be handled with all seriousness.


He explained that “Kwara dtate is part of the North Central States in the geographical location and very peaceful compared to what is happening nation-wide.


“There is a need for the government to adequately equip the security operatives especially the local VGN so that the state and the people would at all times be prevented from all forms of criminal activities”.


Bolorunduro alledged that, “during the past  administration in the State, issue of support for VGN were politisiced and tribalised affirming that the ugly trend seriously affected the operations of the local VGN as they were denied all the necessary assistance by the government.
“The VGN were promised operation vehicles and other logistics support, but those items were not provided”.


He however commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his unalloyed support for the security agencies including the VGN in the State.


The VGN boss also thanked the Kwara dtate Government for the palliatives measures donated to the VGN and other people in Kwara during the Coronavirus lockdown.
He advised all Kwarans to continue to adhere strictly to the directives by the government and the medical experts against Covid 19, adding that it is unfortunate that many lives have been lost to the pandemic diseases.


He commended Governor over some achievements he was able to a during the last one year in office, and appealed for special health insurance for the Vigilante members that would serve as encouragement for them.


He assured that the group would continue to assist the government by ensuring that crimes and criminal activities were brought to a very low level, and also abide by law of the Federation Republic of Nigeria.


He appreciated the Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi, Emir of Ilorin Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari, the Kwara State Police Commissioner and Divisional Police Officers, Commander General, VGN, Umar Bakori Commissioner for Justice, Salam  Jawondo, Mr Abdullateef Alakawa, Special Adviser  on Strategy, and Special Adviser special Duties, Alhaji Yinka Aluko  to Governor  AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq respectively and several other stakeholders for their unflinching support to the group at all times.
