Group presents food items to residents over COVID-19 lockdown

As part of efforts to cushion the effects of Coronavirus lockdown in Kwara State, a community development association, Adangba Youth Development Association in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state, has presented food items worth thousands of naira to residents of the community.

Food items like rice, beans, semovita, garri among others were presented to some selected indigent residents of the community under the strict compliance with social distancing rule.

Speaking at the event, the President of Adangba Youth Development Association, Mallam Saka Ladan said that the gesture was to cushion the effects of partial lockdown currently going in the state to prevent Coronavirus pandemic.

Mallam Ladan explained that residents who are seriously affected by the lockdown were selected in line with zonal arrangement of the community to benefit from the gesture so that they would be able to feed their families for some days before the lifting of lockdown.

He added that association sourced for financial assistance from philanthropic individuals in the community to meet the obligation.

Mallam Ladan assured the association’s commitment to continue to partner with the government, individuals and corporate organizations in alleviating the sufferings of indigent residents of the community especially at this trying period.

Also speaking, the Vice President of the association, Saka Luqman and General Secretary, Basheer Luqman appreciated the elders in the community, especially those who have donated generously for the success of the programme.

They urged the governments to intensify efforts in their palliative by ensuring that people who really need it benefited to reduce hunger associated with the lockdown.
