The President of the Mike Omotosho Foundation, Dr Mike Omotosho, has urged Nigerians to embrace the new year with a new ray of hope and stay positive towards set goals.
He acknowledged that many of the citizens might have been previously disappointed in realising their set objectives and goals on account of some circumstances beyond their control, but expressed optimism that all hope is not lost.
In his new year message issued and made available to Journalists in Ilorin, Dr Omotosho admirably referred to as Omo To Sure, said it was needless dwelling on the pasts if we are determined to move forward.
The Governor Emeritus of Rotary International District 9125 noted that challenges confronting the country have semblance with some of the issues the global community was striving to navigate through and therefore Nigeria was not in isolation.
He specifically listed insecurity, hunger and high rate of poverty as parts of the problems bedevilling the country and also most parts of the world and described them as a phase in the life of any nation.
Dr Omotosho, who is a one-time National Chairman of Labour Party, called for calm among Nigerians while government, especially at the centre tackles the problems one after the other, saying that the steps taken so far indicated that the country would surmount her challenges with time.
Omotosho who is the President of the Hepatitis Zero Nigerian Commission however, recalled the events that shaped year 2019 in the political annals of Kwara State and pointed out that the people indeed held their destinies in their own hands.
He added that the outcome of the last general elections showed that the people have become electorally savvy and sophisticated, who in turn collectively, chose to preside over their affairs and can do same again as regards other areas of their lives.
Dr Omotosho commended the people for their bravery, which culminated in the election and inauguration of AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the state Governor and appealed to them to rally round his government.
“It is indeed a new year for all Nigerians, who grappled with a plethora of challenges while the year 2019 lasted. Of course, many citizens might have been disappointed in one way or the other in realising their set objectives and goals on account of some circumstances beyond their control. I want to urge us not to lose hope.
“While reflecting on our unpleasant experiences, it is needless for us to dwell on the past failures if we are determined to move forward. Let us embrace the new year with a new ray of hope and positive goals.
“I want to also use this opportunity to wish the good people of Kwara and indeed every Nigerian a magical 2020 and the very best in the new year”, Dr Omotosho concluded.
