The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammad Bashir Solihu has pledged his unalloyed support to all programmes and activities of the Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN).
Imam Bashir made the pledge on Wednesday when the state executives and members of the FOMWAN trustees paid a courtesy visit to the number one Imam in the state as part of activifties lined up to celebrate the 2019 International Day of Girl Child (IDGC).
Imam Bashir commended the association for her doggedness and steadfastness in promoting and propagating Islam across Nigeria and beyond.
He described the association as one of the very strong Islamic organisations in Nigeria that pride themselves with laudable achievements in terms of promoting Islam and service to God and humanity.
Imam Bashir appreciated God for guiding members of the association aright for them to have been toeing the right path and keeping the flag of Islam flying all over the country and beyond.
He pledged his unflinching support to the association through mobilisation and wider enlightenment campaigns to the people via weekly Friday sermon and other open air lectures across the state.
The Imam, who gave assurance of his support to the association convincingly put a call through to other members of the league of Imams in the presence of visiting FOMWAN members on the need to fast-track and stimulate messages on empowering girl child across the state.
He prayed God to continue to reward all the efforts of the association and accept her prayers which bothered on better living conditions for women, youth, children and all the entire human race.
In his remark, a member of the FOMWAN Trustees, Hajia Muslimat Kamaldeen, said the FOMWAN decided to focus on empowering girl child during this year edition of annual International Day of Girl Child.
Hajia Shehu sought for the kind support of the religious leaders in the state headed by the chief Imam of Ilorin in achieving their set goals and objectives of girl child’s emancipation.
She explained that the association was desirous of bringing girls back on school and stop them from scourge of child abuse and other related misuse of girl child in country.
She described sound and qualitative education as a necessary weapon for good living, saying that educating a female child is likened to educating the nation.
Earlier in her comment, the Chairperson, FOMWAN Youth, Hajia Baliqees Oladimeji, said the FOMWAN was out to celebrate this year edition of annual International Day of Girl Child and considered their visit to the Chief Imam imperative.
