….offers scholarship to a five-year old boy up to University level
The Labour Party Governorship Candidate in Kwara State, Comrade Issa Aremu, mni has lauded the newly re-elected President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari for his statesmanship by promising to run an all inclusive government.
Aremu, in a address at a stakeholder meeting in Ilorin on Wednesday, comprising LP officials, organized labour, market men and women, tailors, students, people living with disabilities among others, said President’s Buhari statement is an indication of his true statesmanship.
Comrade Aremu said the outcome of the just concluded presidential election showed that majority of Nigerians were on the side of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Aremu therefore asked Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to fulfill his post-election promise of ensuring inclusive governance when inaugurated for second term in office on May 29 this year.
The LP governorship candidate also congratulated President Buhari for emerging as the 4th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in a keenly contested, peaceful and free Presidential election held on Saturday 23rdFebruary 2019.
He equally commanded the PDP Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and other contestants for coming out to contest and canvassing for votes, noting that there cannot be a winner without contestants.
Aremu who observed that there was no looser in the last elections siad all the 84.2 millions voters registered men and women are winners.
He said “there is no loser in the last election. The winners are Nigerians namely; 84.2 registered men and women voters and 200 million Nigerians who have reaffirmed faith in democracy”.
Aremu who is also a NEC Member of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) stated that with minimum/living wage for the working men and women of Nigeria, reopening of closed factories, inclusive development, decent jobs, water, electricity, good road, all Nigerians are winners. He noted that the primary purpose of government is security and welfare of the people.
The Labour Party governorship hopeful also commended INEC and security agencies for ensuring a successful Presidential election and called on all contestants to accept the outcome of the elections and avoid endless litigations.
He said successful conduct of elections in Nigeria shows that democracy is being consolidated in the country.
Comrade Aremu reaffirmed his intention to run for governorship position in the state, saying that Labour Party is a party to beat in Kwara State as the party was fully prepared for the governorship election on Saturday 9th March.
Aremu, who is also the Vice President, IndustriALL Global Union, clarified that he was not stepping down from the gubernatorial race, saying the labour party’s support to President Buhari’s re-election should not be misconstrued.
He promised to establish factories across the 16 local government areas of the state as a measure to cushion unemployment among the youth if elected governor in the March 9 governorship and state houses of Assembly elections.
Aremu who made an extensive tour of his Baboko Ward in a door-to-door campaign on Tuesday, visited the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, his mother Umaa Alhaja Aishat Sulu Gambari and various traditional title holders in Baboko ward which include Daudu Fagba, Daudu Fufu, Daudu Eruda, Magaji Ogoo and Daudu Ajasa.
The governorship hopeful who was fascinated with warm reception accorded him by people of his ward including children pledged to offer scholarship award to a-five year old Abdulsalam Ridwan from primary up to University level.
He said the little boy was struggling to meet him during his visit to Ile-Omo Compound, Eruda area, but was prevented by elderly ones and requested that the boy should be brought to him.
According to him, the gesture was not political but part of humanitarian services he has been doing for the people over three decades, saying that one does not need to wear a political toga before extending hands of fellowship to the masses.
Meanwhile, the Labour Party Governorship candidate has commiserated with the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II on the death of his father, Alhaji Muhammad Akanbi who died on Sunday February 24 and has since been buried according to Islamic rites. He prayed to Allah to console the family and grant the departed soul Aljana Firdaous.
