Val Day: Labour Party organises get-to-gether for supporters

….As comrade Aremu preaches love, affection during polls

As the first leg of the 2019 general elections in Nigeria will hold in less than 48 hours from now, political parties and candidates vying for various political offices have been advised to go to the polls with the spirit of love for themselves and the country in general.

The labour party governorship candidate in the state, Comrade Issa Aremu mni gave the advice on Thursday in his address during a special Valentine Ceremony organized by labour party for the lovers and members of the party including various artisans in the state, held at the party secretariat, along offa garage road, Ilorin, the state capital.

Comrade Aremu who spoke through his wife, Hajia Khadijat Issa Aremu on the occasion, said it is very significant that this year’s Valentine takes place two days to the historic 6th Presidential and National Assembly elections in the country.

Aremu said as kwara is in labour room preparing to give birth to a new set of leaders, Kwara needs not just a governor but a libration to realize a state of our dream.

Aremu who quoted various world leading philosophers profusely in his speech, such as Lao Tzu, Edson Arantes do Nascimento popularly known as Pele, Marthin Luther King, and Nelson Mandela, said all of them preached love and affection during their life time and it is on that basis that the society is ever remembering them for their land mark achievements in their respective country, Africa and the world at large.

Hajia Aremu said her husband demonstrates love and affection in all his undertakings, saying that he is the only governorship candidate in the state that observed December 3rd in solidarity with people living with disabilities (PLWD).

“It is not surprising therefore that in line with ideology of the Labour Party of humanism and Democratic Socialism, he supports the need for all inclusive celebration of this year’s Valentine’s Day” she said.

According to Mrs Aremu, Comrade Aremu’s aspiration for kwara libration informed his decision to choose Nelson Mandela Day (NMD) to declare his intention to run as an expression of his love for the ideals of the freedom Mandel fought for.

” He made his intention known to run for the governorship of kwara state on July 18th, which is Nelson Mandela Day. In appreciation of Mandela’s 67 years public service to humanity, the United Nations (UN) singled his birthday for global celebration of public service. He is the only human being so honoured and he is proudly Africa. Mandela is the hero of my husband” she explained.

In his remarks, the Labour Party Secretary, Comrade Rotimi Ade Ajiboye expressed joy over the large turnout of people at the occasion, saying that the event was organized to create moment of joy and joy among members and supporters of the labour party in the spirit of the valentine day.

Also speaking, one of the
Labour Party campaign members, Comrade Solomon Kekere said labour party was the only political parties with emblem of human beings in its logo.

He said it is a thing of joy that labour party campaign team received praises and warm reception by the people of the Northern Kwara where other political parties had earlier been stoned and chased away by the angry youth.

The event was a memorable one as dancing group from kwara stadium was intermittently entertaining the participants while food and drinks were served liberally in the spirit of valentine day”
