Kwara VGN lauds DSS training, demands utmost support from govt 

The Directorate of Training and Staff Development, Department of State Services (DSS) National Headquarters, Abuja has trained members of Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) on how to further improve and strengthen the nation’s security.

The High Court of Justice of Kaduna has also affirmed the authenticity of Alhaji Ali Sokoto as the Commandant General of the VGN in the country.
 In his lecture at a two-day Capacity Building workshop for the National and State Executives of VGN,  held at the Kapital Club, Abuja, one of the resource persons, Mr Godwin O A Agbadua, said the importance of security cannot be overemphasized as there can never be meaningful development in an environment with security challenges.
Abgadua explained that adequate security implies a stable relatively predictable environment which an individual or groups may pursue it’s end without fear.
He mentioned that the VGN means a group formed by private citizens to administer law and order where they consider governmental structure to be inadequate and also to complement the effort of government.
Agbadua added that the concept of security in an organisational sense has evolved gradually throughout history to reflect the society.
 
Responding to the training, the Kwara State Commander of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Mr Saadu Bolorunduro thanked the Headquarters of the DSS for organizing the training, saying that it would go a long way in addressing some of the security challenges across the country.
Saadu mentioned that Officers of the VGN have been adequately empowered on necessary skills needed for combating crimes, including crime prevention, crime management and control.
Bolorunduro said” we are going to ensure that all our officers and men who are not oppotuned to attend the workshop in Abuja would be provided with similar training at our Kwara State headquarters at Okolowo area”.
He however called on government at all levels to continue to provide all the necessary support to VGN in its bid to reduce crimes and criminalities to the bearest minimum.
The Commandant also appealed to Kwarans to always cooperate with VGN by providing all the necessary information that would assist VGN in crime fighter.
“People should always visit our Headquarters at Okolowo area with relevant information on the activities of men of the under world as all information given would be handled with convidientiality “.
He also promised that VGN Officers would continue to work according to the law and order, and also complement the effort of other security agencies, particularly the police in Kwara State.
The Commander General of VGN in his remark, thanked the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, Federal Government, Security agencies for supporting the VGN, especially on its bill that is under consideration.
He told the VGN at the event to take the training very serious, promising his continual support for the VGN.
In a related development, Honourable Justice  H T Gwadah of High Court of Justice, Kaduna
Has dismissed the suit challenging Alhaji Ali Sokoto as the National Chairman of the VGN.
Justice Gwadah in his ruling said the plaintiffs have failed woefully to prove their case against Alhaji Sokoto.
According to the Judge, “on the whole, the plaintiffs claim has failed and dismissed, saying that the defendant’s reliefs per his Counter Claim are all granted in favour of the defendant and against the plaintiffs jointly and severally “.
