The new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Sulyman Agenjo AbdulKareem has pledged that his administration would operate an open door policy and welcome constructive criticism.

Professor AbdulKareem gave the assurance today while speaking with some members of staff of the institution who thronged his office to welcome him upon assumption of office as the 10th Vice-Chancellor of the University.

The Vice Chancellor who thanked the visiting staff for their visit acknowledged his imperfection as a human being, and solicited the support of everyone.

“I know I’m far from being perfect, where I’m going wrong and you know better, please help me. I need all of you”.

While assuring members of the University of fairness in his dealings with everyone, the Professor of Chemical Engineering assured them that his personal affairs with them will not in any way interfere with his official relationship with them.

“If I have any personal grudge with you, I swear before God, it will not affect how I will deal with you officially; because if I misuse the opportunity given to me by the Almighty, I know He can punish me, and therefore I will not try it”.

Professor AbdulKareem also assured the University Community of judicious spending of their monies with a promise that whatever that is due to each of the staff shall appropriately be given to them

“…I can assure you that as soon as monies come in, those we owe, we’ll pay. Please I’m begging you, be patient. Your money will be judiciously spent to make sure everybody is okay…I’ll not sit on your money for a minute”.

The Vice-Chancellor, however, urged
the staff to be diligent, committed and be of help to one another, as well as be partners in progress with the management in order to jointly achieve greatness for the University.

“…Please, let’s mind our businesses, where you see your friend dodging or not doing up to expectations, I expect you to be your brother’s keeper, tell him to do more. If he needs help, please let us know, we’ll be willing to train him because optimally is what we are supposed to be working at”.

It will be recalled that the erstwhile Vice-Chancellor, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali formally handed over to Professor Sulyman Agenyo AbdulKareem on Friday, 13th October, 2017.
