The Vice-Chancellor of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete,  Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN has revealed his plans to make KWASU a center of attraction just as he called on Kwaran youth*s* to develop mental positive attitude towards entrepreneurial skills.

The Vice-Chancellor disclosed this on Monday  (April 6, 2020) when the Idigba Youth Development Association (IYDA) in Adewole Ward of Ilorin West local government area of Kwara State paid him a courtesy visit.

Professor Akanbi said the white collar jobs are not easy to come by in the present day Nigeria, pointing out that a whole lot of opportunities are derivable in vocational skills much more than the white collar Job.

He pledged that entrepreneurial skills would be one of his vocal points of attention as the KWASU Vice-Chancellor so as to make KWASU students capable of thinking outside box and become job creators upon their graduation rather than job seekers.

“My ultimate focus is to justify the confidence reposed in me and I’m going to do that by uplifting the standard of KWASU and make it the University of choice by all standards. Community development and vocational training are some of the areas I want to focus vigorously among other lofty programmes and projects that will write the KWASU name on a world map” he pledged.

He said the idea of entrepreneurial skills is to engage the youth positively for them to be self-sufficient and economically independent, adding that if the youth are idle, they tend to be lured into various vices, saying “the most dangerous person in the world is the person that has nothing to lose”.

Earlier in his comment, the President of IYDA, Mr Soliu O Yusuf, who led the 4- man delegation, congratulated the new Vice-Chancellor over his appointment and prayed God to grant him the strength, wisdom and sound mind to be able to pilot the affairs of the institution successfully within the five years of his tenure.

Yusuf explained that IYDA is a Non Governmental Organisation and community driven association with major focus on programmes and projects that will add more value to the lives of members of the community, especially the less privileged in order to make life more bearable for them.

He therefore assured the Vice-Chancellor of his association’s unalloyed support to the present adminstration in KWASU in it’s efforts to make  KWASU a leading institution in the country.
