Covid 19: IEDPU fumigates Oja-Oba Market, Ilorin Central Mosque, others

In it’s bid to contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic to Ilorin and Kwara state in general, the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) has fumigated Ilorin Central Mosque, Emir Palace, Oja-Oba Market and some selected areas in Ilorin metropolis.


Similarly, the union also presented nose guard and hand rubbing sanitiser to members of the community as part of precursionary measures to halt the spread of covid 19 in the state.


Making a symbolic presentation of the hand saniser to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gamabari who was represented by the Magaji Aare of Ilorin, Alhaki Aremu Subair today at the Emir Palace, the IEDPU President, Alhaji Aliyu Otta Uthman, said the gesture was in support of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s  led administration in the state and indeed Nigerian Government for the proactive measures taken to curtail the spread of covid 19 in the country.


He said the union had commenced the relay of Jingles in some selected radios stations in the state, sensetization tour of some parts of Ilorin metropolis and the distribution of nose guard and hand rubbing sanitizers to the public as a way of complementing the state government’s efforts to this egard.


The IEDPU National President therefore called on people to adhere strictly to Government directives and remain at home, pointing out that they should report visitors or family members with symptoms of covid 19 to the appropriate authorities.


He particularly warned people to avoid crowded place and not harbour visitors from other states, saying that doing so is amount to risking the lives of all and sundry in the state.


The IEDPU President also called on spirited individuals and corporate organizations to come up with various social safety measures so as to collectively kick out this pandemic from the country.


In his reaction, Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gamabari who spoke through the Magaji Aare of Ilorin, Alhaji Aremu Subair thanked the leadership of the IEDPU for being sensitive to the plight of people at this critical period.


He described the fumigation, provision of nose guard and hand rubbing sanitizers as a step in a right direction, saying that the Emir was pleased with the IEDPU swift intervention and called on other well meaning Kwarans to take a cue from this kind assistance.
