NDLEA uncovers ‘Skuchies’ brewery in Ilorin, recovers 319,961kg of assorted drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), kwara state Command, has uncovered “Skuchies” brewery around Water View, Agbadam area, Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.


‘Skuchies’ is a cocktail of drugs-combination of Cannabis Sativa, Tramadol tablets of 32 kg category, cough Syrup with Codeine, Swifnol, Sobo etc, a litre of which is sold to customers at N2,500.

The brewery was discovered during the raid carried out by the men of NDLEA over the weekend while three persons were also arrested in connection with the crime and a total of 195 litre (232 kg) of ‘Skuchies’ were recovered from the culprits.


According to a statement signed by the command’s Punlic Relations Officer, SN. E E Ukpong, the command had also recorded a seizure of 319,961 kg of assorted drugs during February, 2020.


The brewery joint according to the statement belong to one Ibrahim Olawale ‘aka’ Lessy who is now at large while his manager Opeyemi Ibrahim and his two sale boys, Abdullahi Abiola Lukman and Mubarak Rejuavo were apprehended.


The joint was popularly called Succoth Valley Garden which specialised in the production and sale of ‘Skuchies’.


“The illicit jiont is patronised by the low and mighty in the society. It is is a joint of choice for  youths, especially students. The joint has turned many youths to junkies as helpless ones see the joint as ‘home’. It is also a den for criminals who plan their criminal activities while taking their illicit drugs” the statement read in part. 


The statement added further that the command had also recorded 82, 295kg of Cannabis Sativa, 5,666kg of Psychotropic substance and 232kg of Skuchies.


It tated that a total of 38 suspects comprising 32 males and 6 felames were apprehended, saying that 2 convictions were recorded while 19 persons who used drugs were counselled and released.


The state  Commander of NDLEA, Mr Ambrose Umoru therefore warned the operators of such illicit drugs to close them up, saying that  the command has stepped up it’s operational tempo with the aim of sanitizing Kwara state of illicit drug activities.


Umoru also sounded a note of warning on the youth to desist from consuming such poisonous concoction that is obviously hamful and injurious to human health.
