Pathfinder International organises workshop on resource mobilization for AFP

Pathfinder International, a leading Non Governmental Organization with focus on Family Planning and women of reproductive age in Nigeria, has reiterated the need for a sustained advocacy to ensure a sustainable financial and resources mobilization for family planning in the country.

A country Director, Pathfinder International in Nigeria, Dr Amina Aminu Dorayi, made this known in her opening address at a five-day Advance Family Planning (AFP) workshop on resource mobilization and Grant proposal for advocacy working groups holding in Abuja.

Dorayi explained that advocacy groups working on family planning will only be able to continue to move sustainable Family planning to the next level through a robust financial and management systems that will engender donor support

She added that the Pathfinder was trying to empower the advocacy working groups on skills acquisition to get more funds and to manage projects efficiently and effectively in their various states.

The Pathfinder, Country Director noted that the workshop will assist the groups immensely to improve in the resources mobilization and grant proposal for family planning activities in working states.

Dorayi urged the participants at the workshop to pay rapt attention to the facilitator , so as to achieve targeted objectives which is to increase family planning funds by 2020.

Also speaking on the objective of the programme, a pathfinder consultant, Dr Francis Ademola said the objective of the training was to increase skills of participants in building a sustainable organization.

He explained further that the workshop was designed to strengthen financial management capacity and enhance resource mobilization skills of the members of the Kwara, Ogun and plateau states advocacy working groups

“The purpose is to improve the knowledge and skills of the family planning advocacy working groups in resource mobilization, financial management, and grant winning proposals for family planning advocacy in preparation for graduation.

The facilitator described resource mobilization as all activities involved in securing new and additional resources for the organization, adding that It also involves making better use of, and maximizing, existing resources.

Also speaking on the overview of the programme, the programs/ Business Unit Coordinator, Hauwa Usman explained that pathfinder International has maintained an unwavering belief in the right of women and families to have access to contraception and to quality reproductive health care.
